Overview
One of the key factors for successful sustainability strategies is systematic stakeholder dialogue. To ensure long-term relationships between the organization and its stakeholders each organization requires an efficient management system to identify the most important stakeholders, to understand their needs, to include strategic issues in the decision-making process, to measure results, and to transparently publish information about the progress.
In this course, practical methods will be explained to implement a stakeholder management system in the organization and to implement a productive dialogue. We will work with the most relevant international frameworks; the Guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the AA1000SES standard.
The purpose of this course using the AA1000SES Standard is to establish the benchmark for good-quality engagement.
Stakeholders are not just members of communities or non-governmental organisations. They are those individuals, groups of individuals or organisations that affect and/or could be affected by an organisation’s activities, products or services, and/or associated performance with regard to the issues to be addressed by the engagement.
However, for stakeholder engagement to be useful, it needs to be designed and implemented in a credible way.
That’s why this course is so important. It ensures that you are working the best way you can. It gives you confidence in your work and legitimates your actions.
It helps you understand the difference between a good-quality and poor-quality engagement.
The AA1000SES is applicable to all types and levels of stakeholder engagement. It is applicable to both internal and external engagement, and to the public, private, and civil society organisations of all sizes. It can be used for project-based activities as well as for ongoing purposes
