Advanced Materials Manufacturing, Sustainability and Workforce Development

The primary focus of this pilot study is to understand the impact of sustainability initiatives on workforce development, particularly in advanced materials manufacturing. The course begins by presenting the context for sustainability-related definitions. The business case for sustainability and how it impacts the advanced manufacturing sector is discussed next, followed by a description of the advanced materials manufacturing workforce and the potential effects of sustainability initiatives on workforce education.
Participant will learn how advanced materials manufacturers are responding to consumer demand, new technology innovations and the implementation of manufacturing processes that contribute to the production of sustainable goods, services and work practices.
Other important modules such as current sustainability activities, markets for sustainability, technology trends and methods, core knowledge and skills, and training and skills gaps will be thought.
